Sunday Update: Rainy Day

Happy Sunday. I’m sitting at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, sipping a Strawberry Lemon Mint Charged Lemonade from Panera Bread. It feels like we’re in the dead of spring because it’s been pouring all day. The weather seems to start each day sunny and clear until the early afternoon, then becomes cloudy and rainy.

Life Updates

Before I start talking about DanceDanceRevolution, I have a few personal life updates for you: I had an interview with a web design company this week, and I’m still awaiting the results. Since it’s a customer support role, the starting pay is slightly lower than I’d have liked. However, I hope that if I get accepted, I’ll have more promising opportunities to become a developer and take on more responsibilities and pay.

I’ve also scheduled an interview with an ESL teacher recruiting company in South Korea. They recruit for around 200 schools in Korea and offer great benefits like housing, vacation, and severance pay. I’ve read that this company is one of the most reputable options for becoming an English teacher in Korea. However, there are always downsides to teaching overseas; it doesn’t pay well, limits my ability to build a personal business, and will keep me away from my dad, who’s just about to turn 76. I’m still weighing the options.

I’m also continuing to build out my company, Upbeat Web Services. I’ve commissioned someone within the dance gaming community to create a more professional-looking logo for me, which I hope to release early next week. I’m meeting with a potential first client on Tuesday and eyeing some networking events to meet more like-minded small business people.

YouTube Channel Updates

This week, I finally finished editing the DDR Vlog I mentioned in my last Sunday Update. I think it turned out pretty well.

Post-Vegas – DDR Vlog – Apr 30, 2024

I also started uploading some of my backlogged content from last year, like some DDR Grand Prix videos. I think I’ll continue the pattern of uploading DDR gameplay from Monday to Friday and releasing a more personal video on weekends. Once such video, YAPPING about DDR Grand Prix again (300 subscribers vid), was received better than I had expected, which made me happy.

Lastly, I have a few links to share with you:

I intend to post a new video on those channels daily to grow my audience. DDR YouTube shorts have always seemed to do well, so growing an audience organically on those other platforms would be nice. Who knows? Maybe becoming a professional DDR player will eventually become a feasible opportunity. (Maybe I could get a Taco Bell commercial someday.)

DanceDanceRevolution (DDR) Updates

I visited Round1 again yesterday and bumped into a good friend and Yu-Gi-Oh YouTube celebrity, AkemiTCG. His stamina is much better than mine, but I got a new 17 PFC and cleared DP 9th Dan. I also played some Pump it Up for fun.

Here’s what’s going on in DDR right now:

  • GOLDEN LEAGUE A3 (ends May 8th, 2024) – You still have a few more days to get Golden League points and advance to the next class in GOLDEN LEAGUE. KONAMI also added a CHALLENGE chart for the song Good Looking by JAKAZiD, which is fun. If you’re a masochist who enjoys playing Level 17 charts like me, I recommend giving it a try.
  • COURSE TRIAL A3 (ends May 22nd, 2024) – If you play the COOL DANCE! course in DDR A3, you can unlock the song melody H4CKER, which has a creative Level 15 chart.

That’s all for today! Have a good weekend.
